Tuesday Routine

We slid in quickly to Tuesday routine today, though I did notice that despite Johnnie not needing a shower this morning, we didn't gain a minute and we still were at almost 7:20 by the time we picked up breakfast. Still plenty of time  though and though there was a tiny bit of drizzle this morning, we were still parked in our usual first slot spot by 7:45. And we were walking towards the gate by the time Brooklyn and Bailey drove up with their grandma. A very quick drop-off later I'm walking around my neighborhood getting some steps in first thing. I did make 15,000+ last night and though my legs were feeling it a bit this morning, I still felt pretty good about following it up first thing. Today I had to do a couple of things: providing some data for Rody our Director of Communications, and then sending out my revamped presentation for the CCALAC HIT Summit on Friday. I did want to add a couple of slides and have 60 slides on the ready so I have enough material for 45 minutes. The thing was I didn't exactly get that presentation finished by the end of the day. I didn't actually put my head down until later on this evening and actually not even until Johnnie was already asleep. He knocked off early tonight... as in 8:45 and that was when I got working on the presentation transition in earnest. And I did not get done until 2 AM actually. I was not expecting that. I did finish, I did get some new material in but boy I hadn't stayed up this late to craft a presentation in more than a year! I'm thinking in my mind all this effort has some pay-off right? Some effect that will be of benefit to me but it isn't obvious for now. Why didn't I start any earlier you might ask? Well, Johnnie coming in to my room giving me updates on what he had just learned about the creatures he was watching didn't help. As well as him coming in every half our declaring that he was hungry. I could swear this kid only does that in my apartment. I never see him asking Lisa for food. I did lose my patience with him a couple of times until I did manage to remind myself that Johnnie at his impatient worst is still far better than having no Johnnie around at all. And I'm pretty sure Lisa feels the same way when he's not around with her. Anyway, I did have some cookies to bake for him fortunately and so that got him to wait and exhibit more patience, as well as giving him some yummy treats he was looking for. I thought he'd be watching the new season of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous. But he declared he was no longer interested in dinosaurs. What? Is this the same kid that would watch Dinosaur Train every single day when he was 4? That had watched the first 2 seasons of Jurassic World religiously? Now he's not only stuck on Wild Kratt's creatures, he's actually watching episodes from the 90s! How do I know? Because the computer they're using is the old school legacy version from that time period. No flat screen monitors either. And Chris and Martin look much younger than the contemporary version with animation and stuff. And anyway, wild animals are the same wild animals, whether it's the 80s, 90s or today. And so it was that Tuesday was spent at work in front of my computer mostly during the day and for at least 4 more hours after Johnnie was asleep. I'm grateful that I got my steps in and that I got 80+ active minutes in. That ensures I can tank the end of the week in that regard. I'm grateful that I made myself a nice broccoli beef dinner over rice that was very much homemade and that turned out really really good. I'm grateful that I finished both tasks I set out to do today even noting that one of them <the presentation> was something I had procrastinated on from the weekend. And I'm grateful simply being Johnnie's dad today. Picking him up from school, picking up fried chicken wings for him to augment penne pasta with chicken noodle broth. Even got to do flea medication on Claire at Lisa's request. I wonder if that itch under my arm is the result of her fleas? AND though I didn't get to watch it, apparently the Lakers finally played well and beat the Celtics at Staples tonight. Tuesday is all good...
