It is Monday, the first work day of the brand new Year 2021. There was no possibility I could have possibly foreseen the work year that was 2020 and how I ended up working remotely by the 3rd month of the year, an arrangement that I'd like to make permanent now that I've proven it is not only possible, but that there is no drop in productivity. Pretty sure we're not coming back to the office any time soon. And anyway, my routine working from home is pretty much set, especially Mondays. Monday has become my heavy day to work out given the fact that I've done at least 13,000+ steps for the last 2 months every single Monday and with 3 steps of the Nitric Oxide dump exercise thrown in. See me doing said exercise by the fountain near my unit. Yes I'm sporting my new Allbirds that finally came in the mail this past weekend. It only took a good 2 months to get delivered. Today I planned to finally work on that spreadsheet for an obscure task to allow us to pay our inpatient claims contracts. Obscure because I don't even know why it was tasked to I.S. in the first place. It was because Justin could do it back in the day. And today all i needed to do was remove password protection in a couple of the worksheets inside the file. Obscure. The thing that did stick out today was the announcement that we got our covid-19 vaccines from the State and so the plan was to fast track the vaccination of all employees. And the target complete date was Saturday. This Saturday. That would be 6 days. I guess there's something to do with storage issues and the amount of doses that needed to be administered. I didn't care. I'm signing up at the earliest opportunity. I'm seeing it as one of those bellweather things that can uplift us all, especially considering the holidays we just had. Or non-holiday such as it were. Anyway I had a bunch of other things I needed to get done, most notably the new quarter means there are reports due from the past quarter and Data Analytics was on the hook for providing data visualizations on some of them. Pharmacy, Mobile Dental, Mobile vision, Behavioral Health... all had quarter end reports due. Not to mention my own report for I.S. Still I wasn't really feeling a whole lot of pressure really. I knew I'd get them all done. It's what I do. Provide MASSIVE value.
I was actually rolling along all day... working a bit here, going outside to do steps there, on and on throughout the day until I got a chunk of work done and a chunk of steps done too. To the tune of 11,000 already done by 5 PM. Which was about the time Lisa called to let me know Johnnie had fallen asleep in the backseat of her car. Apparently they were out, they being Lisa, Courtney who had come over, and Mike Villanueva. I just told Lisa to go ahead and drop him off and i would take it from there. Asleep or not, he was wide awake by the time Lisa lifted him from the car seat. And he brought along stinky feet with him, no doubt a product of using his VANS way WAY too much. Is there such a thing as using your shoes too much? There is, if foot sweat causes it to stink. Anyway he immediately asked for chicken noodle soup and I was fortunate to have cooked up penne pasta already earlier in the day. It was clear that Johnnie had had a long day and I'm not so sure he had a decent lunch. Regardless, he had a decent dinner now. I myself had plenty of leftover beef stew and so I had a good meal myself. And of course after dinner and after Johnnie had cleaned up after himself, Johnnie got to watch his choice of videos, which tonight turned out to be the Octonauts. I still had plenty of work to do of course and was at my computer for most of the evening. I feel bad when I do that. All Johnnie wants is for you to be with him whatever you were doing or whatever he was doing. Fortunately, my time doing work did not deter him from coming in and interrupting me with questions and showing me his work. He had already started to do artwork for his mom to show her by the end of the week when it's hand-off night. I was only happy to answer his questions or look over his work, or just simply goof around with him. I didn't find his interruptions to be either disruptive actually. In fact, they gave me reason to pause and regroup. I think better when I'm being interrupted I think. Besides, nothing about Johnnie coming in there with his usual "Hey Dad" is really going to bug me is it? The best thing about Johnnie being with me tonight of course is that I get to sleep early. And tonight that is before 10 PM. Fitbit said I knocked off by 9:45. Sounds just about right. Hey I'm tired. It's my first day back to work.
