Focus Shifts To Politics Again

On any normal first week of January after a Presidential election year, there would be procedures being followed and especially if there is a new Party taking control. Typically most of us Americans don't even pay attention to these procedures because they are just that... procedural stuff. But these are not normal times. And we do not have a normal President. Trump has spent the last 2 months literally deceiving his followers with his preposterous "I won the election" delusion even though overwhelmingly he has been rebuked at every turn, every attempt at a legal recourse. Tomorrow Congress finally seals the deal and makes it official and somehow we Americans are actually wondering what antics he's going to come up with to challenge that mundane process. But even before that all of a sudden all eyes are on the Senatorial run-off in Georgia simply because the control of the Senate is at stake. I had actually given that election up for dead since we are talking about red-state Georgia. But then again Biden did win it and who knows, do the Democrats - a black pastor and a Jewish businessman - have a shot? We'll see. With all the turmoil going on who knows. But those are things that are going on outside my periphery. For me, it is still simply a Tuesday morning on the last week of Johnnie's vacation. And that is what I'm trying to chronicle here. Usual breakfast at McDonald's, usual udon for lunch. I had my usual team meeting too and I could sense some anxiety that the vaccine has finally come to our organization and my team at least is itching to get vaccinated. Apparently that's not always the case with the rest of the organization since 30% said they weren't going to take the vaccine. Nothing I've read so far indicates any danger whatsoever and as far as I'm concerned, if I took the flu shot, then this should be just as safe. We got the Moderna vaccine too, which is a one-dose deal although I believe we're only getting a half dose the first time so 2 doses are still required. Apparently that's how they're trying to roll it out to as many clinic organizations as possible. Anyway I'm sure I'm going to get mine done sometime this week. In the meantime, it's work work and work and by mid-day that project with the inpatient claims was a done deal... only to be replaced by other tasks for quarter end. It's like you get one done and 2 had taken it's place LOL. Oh well, just another day at work. At least I got Johnnie back to doing his karate class online and after making him do TWO classes to catch up, he was straight up tired. That is not easy to do. And he gladly wolfed down his teriyaki chicken dinner from Panda Express tonight. Even almost fell asleep on the drive there which was less than a couple of miles. It should have been a routine Tuesday with Johnnie's videos - still on Octonauts today - and then an activity that actually confounded the both of us. He figured he could do his own puzzle. So he made a drawing, cut it up into a bunch of pieces and got me to sit with him and tried to put it together. And man it was NOT easy. In fact, we didn't finish. Instead I told him to do another one and we could take a picture of it before so we know what it is supposed to look like when finished. Another activity we did was something he came up with as well... he brought these 3D glasses that turned lights into candy canes. And so at his urging we walked around the perimeter of my block looking at lights. Very cool indeed. Not only did Johnnie love the activity, I got my walk steps in too! A win-win-win.  We got back and Johnnie was in bed by 9:30. I should have been too. Except that I wanted to take a peek at the Georgia run-off elections. Lo and behold, it was close. REALLY CLOSE. And so I had to keep watching. By 11 PM, Pastor Warnock the Democrat had pulled ahead and pulled away. And that race was called by 11:30 PM. One upset down, one brewing? By midnight, Ossoff the Democrat had also pulled ahead but by a much thinner margin. I went to bed at 1 PM with him opening up a decent lead. And since Decision Desk HQ made the call in his favor, i knew it was a done deal. Just like the Presidential election. Wow. This hands control of the Senate to the Democrats! A huge upset to be sure!
