Mid week out of focus

Despite all the madness going on at the US Capitol, and I do admit my eyes were transfixed to whatever was happening there pretty much all day, I tried to keep it as close to business as usual with Johnnie. Since his generation inherits the world, I'm thinking to myself how do I teach him to grow up with his naturally inquisitive and curious mind and keep him from growing inside a bubble like all these people that participated in the riot did. How do I make sure he knows how to trust himself and know what is right and what is wrong. And what is delusional? I hope I'm not the only parent that thinks that. I hope I'm not the parent that looks at their sons and daughters and see them participating in today's events and feel pride instead of remorse. I took Johnnie outside today to play a little baseball. He hit the ball well as he usually does. See picture posted. Life is still pretty simple for him and actually taking care of him is still pretty easy at least for me. How do I make sure he learns compassion and empathy? Oh and let's throw in RESPECT FOR HIMSELF AND OTHERS and the concept of RESPONSIBILITY. That is squarely on my and Lisa's shoulders I realize. And since Lisa is not so big on the first two (compassion and empathy), that would mean I have to pick up most of the slack. And that is just fine with me. In the meantime, we had a longer-than-usual town hall at work this morning, partly to honor Barbara as outgoing CEO, usher in Eloisa as the incoming CEO, and then to talk with some length about the COVID vaccine and how we are fast tracking it in the next few days. In the meantime, I'm trying to come up with activities to keep Johnnie occupied while I snuck in news flashes on what was happening at the US Capitol. The certification process was interrupted to be sure, but all indications were that it would continue once the Capitol is deemed safe again from these damn hooligans. I am SO ANGRY at these low-information individuals. Such sheep that they would follow that idiot Trump. Don't they see he's out to save himself? Cuz once he's out of office, it is FAIR GAME on his ass legally. State Attorney of NY is salivating just waiting for the 20th when he can no longer be protected by his position. And he deserves all the litigation coming his way. Even worse. After today, I wonder if his supporters will still defend him? From all indications, his most ardent ones that I know who post in FB, is still behind him. I mean it's not enough I guess that we were INVADED by our own people. I think in any other circumstance, he'd be handcuffed already! Unbelievable how low he has taken us that fucking moron. Yes I'm angry. And I hope I can cool off so I can at least focus on my child. In the end I sporadically kept engaging him in horseplay all day long really. And then got him to do one more day of his karate class. At least now I know he knows how to defend himself, from a direct frontal attack anyway. That is always a good thing. Anyway Wednesday routine means Panda Express teriyaki chicken. And we noticed that they were not letting people in the restaurant again. We had to line up outside to order, and line up to pick up our food. Gonna be interesting if and when it starts raining. Tonight it wasn't that big a deal. And then after dinner, Johnnie yet again wanted to go for a walk with our glasses that turns any light into a candy cane. The best part about that of course is that we walked all the way to McDonald's and back, making it real easy for me to get past 11,000+ steps for the 2nd night in a row! And actually I thought Johnnie actually had a pleasant time doing that with me, not that I'd ever be able to get him to simply take a walk for no reason at all LOL. By the time I got back they had resumed with the election certification process at the Capitol. THAT my friends is how you know the democracy is still standing and strong. Our lawmakers had a job to do. And they're going to be working through the night to get it done. And make no mistake, despite all the shenanigans, and even after a forced video from Trump himself to tell his minions to go home, at the end of the day, BIDEN WAS certified to win the Presidential election. As if there was even any doubt at all. Now we look to the aftermath of it all. Punishment is ABSOLUTELY necessary for anyone and everyone that took part. AND for the instigator himself. Already talk about removing him from office early has gotten on the table. Finally finally finally the Republicans are waking up to the monster they had created. One thing is sure in my mind. He fucked up. He must pay.
