Westlake North... Johnnie Checks In

So today we're at Westlake North and since there is barely 15 people at the place, we all thought we'd be in and out of there well before 9:30. Except... that my IS Helpdesk team is stationed there of course as is 2 of the EHR Support team. That's what happens when they aren't seeing full capacity of patients just yet. Lots of room and it's brand new. I posted a pic of me doing my best to keep interested after my schpeel. By now I'm gotten used to going first and I look at it as one way to set the energy of the whole thing. It's like a Tony Robbins seminar I think. Gotta get the audience energized before you settle in to a long lecture or talk. As it was we did get done by 9:30 AM but I didn't leave just yet. That's because I had to have my Data Analytics Team meeting right after. And then right after that, I had a quick meeting with the EHR Team since they were already there working in the lunchroom. Might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. And then in the middle of all that, I get a call from Lisa's phone. It was Johnnie checking in from Hawaii! Not lost on me was that they were coming home in a couple of days and Lisa was simply checking in as well. Of course Johnnie had to tell me about his last few days which I appreciated very much since I hadn't talked to him since the weekend. Even though I was working, I went to the patio area and made sure we had a nice, long conversation my son and i. And then off I went on home braving the traffic on the way back to the westside. Also not lost on me was the fact that my resting heart rate had ticked up to 72 this week and stayed there. I don't think it was because of the Town Halls either. I think it was because I had to deal with traffic every day all over again. I had not had to do that in a sustained manner for more than a year. And I must say it reminded me why I hated it so much... traffic I mean. Still I made it home before 11:30 AM and immediately took Claire out for her morning walk. It had gotten hot outside too and that wasn't lost on me either. That I normally don't even venture out if I were working because of the heat. Then again summer is when we always find a way to eat out for lunch. Not when I'm working from home obviously. Although I did eat out and got some Chipotle.
There were 2 other things on the agenda for the rest of the day. One was giving Claire a bath, the other was the HIT Roundtable Agenda meeting. I missed the 3 PM window for the former and I didn't want to go to Lisa's house to do the bath anymore either. And so I just did the bath later, making sure to finish up the HIT meeting first. The meeting material took all of 10 minutes to discuss. The rest of the meeting was simply banter and that's ok with me. I had to give Aisha crap about having to wait until 6 PM to pick up her son from pre-K. I know I had never waited that long to pick up Johnnie anywhere. And it looks like our freebie after school watch days are done anyway since Beyond the Bell isn't available for kids until the 2nd grade. Johnnie has one more year to go. After the meeting I kicked around for a while and then gave Claire a bath. Not in the tub, in the kitchen sink actually. Hey the sink is big enough for her even while she has gotten quite a bit bigger.  I still had to keep her from shaking all the water off... but when she got done, she smelled great and she looked like simply a fluffy big piece of carpet. She had lots of knots on her hair but I wasn't going to worry about those. Nor was I equipped to unknot them anyway. I didn't get around to her bath before 7:30 PM actually. I still cooked up the shrimp to go with the fried rice and chow mein and veggies I got from Panda Express. Only the 2nd time I had gone to that place in the 3 weeks that Johnnie has not been around. Put shrimp on top of that though and it was a fantastic dinner. And so I had to clean up all the dishes and pots and wok that I used and THEN I gave Claire a bath. She had gotten so furry that it took a couple of hours with the fan blowing right on her before she finally started to dry off. And then I went to bed pretty early. It's on to the Hollywood Health Center in the morning. Town Hall rolls on...
