So it's Town Hall week this week, and it's a roadshow format meaning all of us leaders are supposed to go to each Health Center - one a day. Today it's at Eagle Rock. I hadn't been to Eagle Rock in years I must say. I don't even remember how to get there it's been so long. I do remember fondly that we started Epic implementation here in December 2014. Man how did I pull THAT off?! I was thinking about the TownHall week last night in bed. I admittedly did NOT have good sleep at all and I'm not even sure that what was going in my head was about the Town Hall. I do know that I have personal reservations about the value of this format. Especially when I found out at least 3 of the team have driven almowt 100 miles to come here. All week. That means they had to get a hotel downtown. Me? it took me a good 40 minutes to get to Eagle Rock. But that wasn't so bad. In fact, I got there so early since I showered and took off by 7:30... that I hung out at the lunchroom for at least a half hour. By the time we got started it had gotten hot out there. Hey we were in the parking lot and it IS summer after all. Anyway the Eagle Rock facility isn't so big so this was a perfect place to start. I went first and did my usual schpeel on IS Security. You can see the pic I posted of me standing where all the food was... Porto's! That alone was worth coming out I guess. I grabbed a meat potato ball and a puff empanada and just as soon as it was done I headed on out and headed on home. I didn't like the idea of leaving Claire alone at home although she should be used to it since I usually leave her when I used to drop Johnnie off at summer camp. Anyway I took her out for a walk immediately as I got home. It was barely 11 AM so she was ok.
The big thing about today though was that since it was a Monday, it is usually my heavy steps day and usually I get started first thing in the morning. Obviously I couldn't do that today. Usually by lunch time I'm already close to 7500 steps even. Not today. By 1 PM I still hadn't actually gotten started even. Like I was barely at 1000 steps. In my mind I thought to myself maybe today is the day I just stick to the usual 11,000+ and 60 active minutes or so. you know... average. And I was even hungry at mid-afternoon. The problem was that I was tired from not having good sleep last night and I didn't have the energy. Nor did I bother to take a nap either. So I thought I'd walk to McDonalds' and get a cheeseburger and a coke. Why not kick-start my steps routine with the worst possible thing that I could eat right? LOL LOL. The funny thing was that not only did it kickstart me, I walked from there... to Whole Foods.... and then to McLaughlin and then back to the house and around the neighborhood! It was a warm summer afternoon alright... but not in the shade. It was actually nice and breezy in the shade. And so by the time I got home I was already up to 7500 steps! And then I gave myself a break and then did aerobics in the living room for another half hour or so. I was already up past 10,000 steps by 5 PM. Dare I say that I had gotten caught up after all? I didn't do much of anything else work-wise in the afternoon. That helped a great deal. Instead I was glued to the TV watching news of what the Lakers were doing the first day of free agency. After all, this was the time we picked up LeBron 3 years ago, and then AD the year after that. And we already picked up Russell Westbrook this year! Anyway the rest of the evening was spent really just chillin and catching up on the sleep I didn't get last night. No Johnnie still, not for another week. In the end, I still finished with 15000+ steps for the day continuing my streak, although my workout activity minutes was 95 minutes, a full half hour less than usual. I think it's ok. I'll make it up the rest of the week.
