Labor Day Off

It is Monday, it is Labor Day and there's no work today... yipee! I felt like I was in lazy mode for the last 3 days and rightfully so. I needed some down time. I haven't taken a full vacation in over a year and I could feel myself getting more tense and grumpy in the past few. Hence today's off day was most welcome indeed. It's like a took a nice and long 4-day weekend.  That being the case, why would I want to even whiff of anything work-related today?! The fact that it took me until almost 8 AM to get out of bed and it took me until almost 9 AM to even think about getting out and about and doing steps. Remember the past 2 Mondays I had walked all the way to National and Sepulveda and then making a box to Palms and Sepulveda before heading home. Not going to be able to do that today I'm afraid... not when I'm already having breakfast at 9 AM. Made myself a couple of eggs and then a bagel with cream cheese and of course some Earl Grey hot tea. Then and only then did I head on out and walked around the neighborhood. Happy Labor Day everyone. Of course there were lots of people walking out and about in my neighborhood, with their dogs especially. It was already quite warm out by this time but I managed to get to almost 6000 steps and 50 active minutes when I headed back in. Of course it was already well past 10:30 AM by this time too. And in keeping with the theme of the off-day today, I just parked myself on the couch, watched some trading videos. I did say I was going to finally get to these this weekend didn't I? I knew about options already but not enough to get myself going. That is the key after this weekend I think. Get myself to take action. Hopefully, the spate of videos I perused this morning helps me get going in that direction. Of course I had to do some binaural beats too, as well as some ESPN football stuff, since I am still feeling the elation of this weekend's UCLA win over LSU. Apparently that was big with our friends down South. As in they are totally wrecked over it! By lunchtime, I was satisfied just picking up food from Chipotle, since I also started to get it in my head that I needed to clean SOME part of the apartment today. Yes I did that last year. Last year we even ventured to the beach for the morning with Lisa!
No such venturings today, I'm sure mom and son are out and about doing something. By mid-afternoon, I did another 5000 steps and another 40 minutes and so I figured I could finally take a shower. I know I know, it only took all day for me to get going. And I actually did clean the toilet and the bathroom  to boot. So it wasn't like I was entirely down all day today LOL. Instead I just took my time enjoying another warm day out. I even captured a moment in my head while walking in the middle of the afternoon. It may have been hot, but while in the shade, I was actually listening to the palm trees above me being swayed by a fairly strong breeze. Might I say it actually felt... pleasant. By 5 PM, I gave Lisa a call to check on hand-off night and she was ok for me to come over around 6:30 PM. When I got there, Johnnie jumped into my arms and just hung on. Yep, I was pretty sure he'd be glad to see me and glad it's his turn at my apartment. The dog was being clipped by Lisa (her ears anyway) and boy she looked much MUCH skinnier without all the hair if I do say so. One thing was for sure... she did NOT look like the same dog LOL. Anyway we loaded up and drove off and so starts another week officially. We had to stop at El Pollo Loco of course to pick up my dinner... and to pick up  churros for Johnnie. He hadn't eaten yet and he told me they had spent the afternoon playing in the water slide.  He put away 3 bowls of penne pasta in chicken broth. I mean he put away almost the entire amount of penne pasta I had cooked up. Not surprising for him actually. What was surprising was that he kept eating and eating and eating the rest of the night. Man, does Lisa starve this kid? He ate both churros for dessert, then a whole handful of cheetoh paws and then declared that he was still hungry. And so I gave him some ice cream too. I am 100% sure he doesn't eat this much at Lisa's house. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even ask for food. Kind of an amazing thing actually. And since he was pretty tuckered out already, he went to sleep almost immediately at 9 PM. An early night for him, an early night for me. I was tired too. Must have been the 15000 steps huh? Long weekend over. I needed that.
