A Work Friday and then a Surprise

I did not count on today being a busy work day. It is a Friday isn't it? I usually think about the many different ways I could tank today, starting with some movie or series I had the urge to watch. But this morning I got started early because I had to do Johnnie's day pass for Lisa and then pick up a tee time for next next Sunday. And surprisingly I got one for Harbor, the toughest one to get of all. Then I went back to sleep, or at least get started with my meditation session. And then turned on a trading channel or 2 live on Youtube. I did that just to get used to the habit, since all I will be doing is finding the right one to follow. I am still trying to find enough free time to start studying up on options and specifically what to do and get some trades in to get my feet wet. But that wouldn't be today. That's because I actually got organized enough to write down some work to-do's. I even posted them here to remind myself that i WAS actually trying to distract myself into not doing anything. All I have to do is command myself to find time to learn how to trade. Anyway I had the meeting with Barbara about Salesforce today and then a meeting with Johnnie's teacher Ms Hwang about Room 7 stuff. I was glad to do that one actually... it at least shows that I am plugged in, especially since Lisa is not. And after last night, I doubt if she was paying attention to all these things I had been emailing her. I at least got to hear about stuff that had been happening in Johnnie's room. We'll be talking about it more at the parent-teacher conferences in November I'm sure. Hey I'm just trying to make sure Johnnie is caught up after having missed 7 school days already.  And after the call, I declared the weekend to be here! I went to Pavilions Marina del REy because that's the only place I could get some Hansen's soft drink. And when on my way back to the car I was about ready to walk to Rubio's and get myself some fish tacos in a reprise of last Friday.  But I got a call from Lisa instead. She said she needed me to come over and that she had a surprise for me. What on earth could THIS BE all about?? She said Johnnie was adamant about having dinner with me. All this about dinner? Well, since I was technically already in the area, I said it was ok. What happened when I got there was that Johnnie had this thing he wanted me to see. And when I walk in the house, there was Dexter. It turned out the surprise was that Lisa was giving me a birthday dinner. I simply did not even think she was going to do anything. Because she never does.  So yes this was as big a surprise as any. As was Dexter getting Johnnie and I Shang-Chi t-shirts. Very. Very. Cool. Lisa gave me the choice of where to go and I took us to Oops. I mean we always go there but why try anything new. Remember I was still thinking Lisa was in a strange mood from last night. I mean she called me at the last second for my own surprise birthday dinner. What if I had gone somewhere? What if I already had dinner? smh smh smh. Lisa being Lisa. But I guess it is the thought that counts right? And as it was we did end up having a nice dinner. And when someone, anyone buys you dinner, you have to be grateful.  This was already a rarity in and of itself, Lisa remembering and actually doing something. I appreciated it. Anyway on the way back Johnnie had nodded off so I had to carry him upstairs to his bed. This is not the little child I used to carry to bed when he fell asleep next to Lisa when I was still living here. I mean my back was already sore from yesterday's golf. After I put Johnnie down, Lisa seemed like she wanted to talk to Dexter and I still. While Dexter and I just wanted to go home. We talked for a bit and then went about our way home. After all tomorrow is Saturday and I'm supposed to be picking Johnnie up for our daddy-son Saturday. I will see her in the morning again.
