So today's golf game was a nice quiet early one at Penmar. Since I had already played and played pretty well last Thursday at Roosevelt, I figured this round was just more practice. After all, I think Scott and I have gotten to the point where we know we should be shooting no less than bogey for any hole here at Penmar, that's how familiar we were with it. Now do we do that? LoLz. In fact on Hole 5 when we looked each other in the eye and said we were both going to shoot no less than a bogey 4, I not only tanked the tee shot for the first time all morning, but ended up with a double bogey 5, also the first time all morning. And so did Scott. Before that, we both bogeyed Hole 1 and 2 and shot par on Hole 3. And bogeyed Hole 4 as well. We were both playing pretty well. And it felt easy too. After Hole 5 though the cart broke down for me as I got the yips on Hole 6 and could barely go more than 50 yards for the first SIX swings?!!! How does that happen i ask myself? After having played well the first 5 holes? Even counting the last one. Fortunately, i did recover my mojo and got a bogey on Hole 7 by sinking a long putt off the fringe. And I saved a 4 on Hole 8 even though my tee shot was errant too. I just lost my rhythm. And on the last hole I hit my best tee shot all day 225+ and barely to the right but still on the fairway. And then I whiffed. I finished that one with a 6. So I guess it was a tale of 2 halves. The first half I played well, the 2nd... not so much. But at least I did get out on the course today and enjoyed another nice end-of-summer Sunday on the first weekend of the NFL season. So not quite so many people on the course by mid-day. And enjoyed lunch at Crimson too right afterwards. And I even got a 45-minute nap right after. All part of the plan because later on, I'm headed to SoFi Stadium to catch the Rams game at said first NFL weekend. I am so excited...
