Running Errands Errands Errands All Day

I suppose that this being a Friday and all, no real deadlines due and with no planned contact with Johnnie I should take some ME time. Then again since I had to get up at 5:55 AM just to lock in a tee time for Sunday after this one, and then get Johnnie's day pass all squared away there wouldn't be any point to sleeping in after. I had it in my mind that I was going to wash my comforter today since I hadn't done so since the beginning of the year and 5 months is enough time. Besides, I hadn't washed them since the dog started hanging around and I'm sure they need the washing. And then I figured I'd also get my DMV documents mailed off so I can officially take title to my Honda. I keep forgetting I already own the car outright fully paid for. Another thankful-for-abundance moment which immediately followed the I-just-got-paid today gratitude thought. I mean I have $35,000+ in my checking account even AFTER paying for the car. What's not to be grateful for? Anyway that little errand meant printing an email from the DMV and then going to the post office to mail the thing. So that meant a stop at Staples, a stop at the bank to get cash, a stop back at home since I noticed a homeless person in front of Staples and what perfect way to get rid of a whole bag of food from LAUSD that Johnnie didn't eat than to give it to someone who could use it much more than we could. And then came a stop at Burger King to pick up a croissanwich <2 for $4 you know?!> and finally I can go home and enjoy breakfast and take a shower. All before 8:30 AM mind you. And when I went home to check on my email I noticed my password being a little buggy again. And so when I called the IS Helpdesk and got a hold of Kennedy, he mentioned that my new ASUS mini-PC was all ready to go. That's the new little powerhouse I bought for me to use since I really should have a device that is designed to be on 24/7. Ok then looks like I'm taking a trip to our Westlake North HC today. I took off at 11:45 wolfing down leftover spaghetti from last night in order to tide me over and the 10 Freeway was another confirmation that traffic is back in LA. It took a good 20 minutes to get to the offramp and another 10 just to get to Westlake North. But I did pick up my device and candidly it was good to be out and about, traffic or not. I passed a familiar building on Wilshire and realized it was the place where we had our fingerprint scans done months and months before we were even official to adopt Johnnie, probably 7 years ago in 2014. And we came here twice if I remember right. My homebase was still the MOB in Hollywood then. I had to take a pic. Memories. It brought on a slew of memories from this time period too. Today is the USC Commencement and that by itself has had a long history of memories for me. Right up to 3 years ago when I took Johnnie to the Cali Science Museum on the Metro and I was still living in Maplewood and we ran into the USC Commencement then. Memories. For years I'd take off to Maui around this time too. Today all I did was brave the LA traffic to get back to the Westside. And since it took all that long already I figured I'd stop to pick up food somewhere. Why I chose IN-N-Out in Culver City I don't even know. I waited almost 25 minutes to get my food and by the time I got done it was nearly 3 PM. I wolfed it down so quickly I developed an upset stomach by the time I came home. And so all that waiting for that food literally went down and out within the hour LOL. And I managed to make a stop at the post office to drop off my DMV paperwork. Still I wasn't done. I figured it was only 4:30 and I still had time to do my original plan of getting my comforter washed. And so I headed off to the COIN laundromat on National and Centinela and did just that. I couldn't believe how many people were there getting their laundry done. Am i doomed to be waiting all day for everything today? I calmed myself down by simply doing steps up and down the street. Even with another needed trip back home to do another upset stomach dump, I still managed to get everything done before 6 PM. And I even stopped at Whole Foods too to get some more shopping done. Man I was an ERRAND MACHINE TODAY! I went home and felt good about all the stuff I had done today. And so I made myself the last of the beef and shrimp and baby asparagus and put in a bunch of the frozen Trader Joe's fried rice, and voila: dinner. And a pretty good one at that. Healthy too. And so it was that today's Friday became a different kind of ME time. I didn't rest but I got a lot done. And I went to bed feeling very very good about all of that...
