And so today the event of the day was I had to go to our Hollywood clinic to get my 2nd dose of the Covid vaccine. Which meant that I had to leave Johnnie at Lisa's office so someone could watch him for at least an hour, maybe two. And of course the dog had to come with him. And so the morning was sort of a compression of Johnnie's Tuesday school routine and kind of a debrief and decompression of the drama last night with the dog being sick and all. By Lisa's account this morning, and by my own observation the dog seemed to be doing much MUCH better when we picked him up first thing. She was wagging her tail and walking around. It wasn't like she was sick at all. Lisa did sort of go on a little bit about how glad she was that she was with the dog last night. So much so that it softened my attitude a bit. And I ended up offering for her to pick up the dog after she was done with work and we could pick her up again tomorrow morning like today. After all, the dog was still in recovery mode I felt. Better the dog recovers with her. Or should I say, better that the dog was with her as much as possible so I couldn't be blamed if she got more sick LOL. All in all the morning seemed to go quickly and I was in the middle of my own routine with my Team Meeting and then doing reports and stuff. Before I knew it, Johnnie's noon class was already done and it was time to head out. I didn't make a big deal at all about leaving Johnnie and the dog at Lisa's since she seemed to indicate the office was glad to have the dog around regardless of the reason I was leaving her/them. The thing was that I chose to drive to Hollywood using the Sunset route, which was the route I would take to work when I still lived in Westwood and when our office was still at the MOB in Hollywood. Maybe I was trying to be nostalgic yet again LOL. The problem was that it took a heck of a lot longer than I thought, perhaps even longer had I simply done the usual 10-Fwy and Vermont route. I would have run into some traffic regardless, but it was so bad it took literally a half hour to get to Vermont from Sunset and Beverly Glen and I was tearing in and out of cars when I could. I may have forgotten that when I took this route to go to work back in the day, that farthest right lane would be open because cars hadn't parked there yet. I ended up being 5 minutes late to my 1:48 appointment but since there were only 10 people being done today, I was ok and I even posted a pic of myself getting the vaccine.
And so I was off after my 15 minute observation period and headed back to Lisa's office. With a street taco in my hand. I miss that taco truck too. Had lunch there many a time before we moved to the FRB. I can't believe that was already 7 years ago... Anyway I was back at Lisa's by 3 PM. It took a couple of hours and I picked up Johnnie and the dog stealth-like so I didn't have to deal with Lisa. The dog did seem better today even at my apartment. She looked for Johnnie's shoes, probably because she was used to his smell and then knocked off for a while. In the meantime, I shifted to Tuesday night routine mode and got Johnnie back to doing his karate lessons. I wanted to redo the previous weeks because frankly I wasn't paying attention and I wanted to make sure he had enough practice time with the kicks and punches that he seemed to be learning very quickly. I wanted to make sure he had a good foundation. And then of course there was the Panda Express run at 5 PM. Johnnie wanted to walk in and take the dog and I was ok with that because she seemed to be doing much better. She ate and drank water, pooped and pee'd outside even. Ok, maybe once she pee'd on the bathroom carpet. I guess that would be one of the things we're going to have to do a thorough washing on this weekend. In the end Lisa did take me up on picking up the dog after her workday and she was over by 7:30. I was happy to do the hand-off. At least she couldn't say she would be lonely at her house this evening. Something tells me that was beginning to be a problem for her. For Johnnie and I this was merely Tuesday night. I didn't have to make cookies because Johnnie accumulated 3 chocolate chip cookies from last week's Panda Express runs. And he was happy to eat them tonight. I myself had my lamb stew leftovers. The great thing about making stew is it lasts for at least a few days. And so if last night's sleep was a bit troubled because of the dog drama and because we had to get up early to pick her up at Lisa's tonight Johnnie and I both hit the sack early. And we got recovery sleep once and for all. Besides my arm where I took the covid shot had gotten pretty sore by the evening. I needed rest...
